(43) Unneeded Summary

Academic and scholarly writing rarely require extended summaries; instead, writers should incorporate analysis and reflection into brief considerations of summary. [REVISE/DELETE]

Some writers, especially students in academic settings, will revert to padding their writing with summary if the writers are unsure of themselves or unsure of the writing assignment. Be sure to include summary only in writing situations requiring summary.
