(39) Argument Invalid, Irrelevant, or Contradictory

Arguments and support must be accurate and logical. [DELETE/ REVISE]

One of the greatest challenges for academic and scholarly writing is creating arguments and support that are accurate and logical. Many inexperienced writers fall into traps and mistakes in both supporting a point and logically elaborating a point.

Writers should develop their ability to identify errors in arguments in the writings of others and to avoid those same traps in their own work.
